In return, households participate in research that will strengthen South Australia’s position in the global energy transition. Most energy companies buy energy at the wholesale price and sell it onto you with a mark-up. We don't. We pass on the real-time wholesale price of energy to help shrink your bills.

Save more with renewables

The magic of wholesale pricing really shines when the sun is out and the wind is blowing, which is 70% of the time in SA! At these times, wholesale prices drop, and you reap the rewards on your energy bill. We’ll also pay you the full value when the grid needs your renewable energy most, just like the big generators earn.

Wait... Amber’s ENERGY PRICES CHANGE?

You got it! The wholesale price of energy goes up and down throughout the day. You save with wholesale by shifting and optimising when you use your power hungry appliances (heaters, AC, washing machines – that sort of thing) to these greener, cheaper times. Better for you and the planet.



When there is an abundance of renewables in the grid, the prices can even go negative! That’s right, sometimes so low you’re paid to use energy.

Amber dynamic fit

Amber treats you like you’re a big solar generator, meaning your feed-in tariff varies along with the wholesale price of energy. When the wholesale price is high, your FiT is high. When the wholesale price is low, the FiT is also low.

Amber’s SmartShift™ technology works with your home energy management system by monitoring your FiT and household usage to increase your savings by exporting when feed-in prices are high and curtailing when low.

Still Need convincing?

Bonus Feed-in Tariff (FiT)

With Amber, battery customers earn a bonus 12.3c/kWh feed in on top of the wholesale FiT from  5 - 9 PM from November to March. So, if the FiT is 40c/kWh you’ll make 52.3c/kWh for all your exports.

Diversify Reward Tariff

If you have a smart air-conditioner unit, hot water system or electric vehicle, we will pass on SA Power Network’s $10 a month Diversify tariff for optimising these devices via the Clipsal Cortex Home Energy Management System.

Battery Rebate

For existing batteries or new installs there is up to $2050 rebate available for connecting your system to our automation software. Already had a battery installed, you are still eligible for this rebate!

Price protection

We’ve got you covered with our bill guarantee. Over the long term, wholesale pricing is generally super-competitive (especially with battery, EV or device automation), but to give you peace of mind we guarantee that over the course of each quarter you'll never pay more than our Bill Guarantee rates on average for your usage, or we will credit you the difference.
