Amber unlocks the true value of the energy market for households because we believe this is the cheapest and fastest way for Australia and the world to reach 100% renewable energy. We're fully focused on building products that help them unlock this value while keeping them in control, which is what our customers tell us they love.
Our customers shift their energy use to times when energy is cheapest and greenest, and automatically export their stored Battery and EV energy for the highest earnings possible, so they can earn what big energy generators earn. We’re nothing like a typical energy company and 100% focused on building a better, more rewarding energy experience for our customers.
our story
Amber was founded by two Aussie mates, Chris Thompson and Dan Adams in December 2017, with the goal of using home energy technology to put money back in customers’ pockets and accelerate the renewable energy transition.
Chris is motivated by using new technologies to improve people’s lives and Dan is passionate about moving the world towards 100% renewable energy.
Prior to Amber, Chris worked in Iran running Bamilo, Iran’s largest online marketplace and before that was with the Boston Consulting Group. Dan spent the last 10 years working with Tesla, the Boston Consulting Group and building social movements around climate change.
Amber is owned by Chris, Dan, Amber's employees and our investors. Amber is also backed by Australia’s leading VCs (including Square Peg Capital and Main Sequence Ventures), impact-focused investors and individuals, and most recently by CommBank.
